Lifting the veil on gender violence, this docuseries follows eight survivors on their journeys of reclaiming their agency and highlights the organizations implementing solutions to protect women and girls worldwide.
Series Summary
1 in 3 women globally will experience gender-based violence in their lifetime.
A 2024 Clinton Global Initiative CTA and Realscreen MIPTV Pick, UNMUTED follows women from across the globe on their journeys of survival and resilience as they reclaim their agency and rebuild their lives against seemingly insurmountable odds. This series educates audiences on the complex socio-cultural factors that lead to gender-based violence, including child marriage, Female Genital Mutilation/Cutting (FGM/C), and acid attacks. The show also explores the non-traditional solutions that individuals and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) are using to protect women and girls around the world.
We are now planning a social impact campaign focused on the key issues addressed in UNMUTED. This 12-month multilateral impact campaign includes; reaching communities and ‘everyday advocates,’ through an international non-theatrical grassroots tour of 100-200 educational screenings of UNMUTED with toolkits to provide audiences with actionable steps to champion women and girls’ agency, choice, safety and freedom in their communities and beyond, engaging policy-makers through 10 special events/workshops hosted by the series-makers to drive high-level policy improvements, and an integrated social media campaign to amplify and unify this work on the ground.
